Vladimer the Prince of Kiev
Vladimer the prince of Kiev [980-1015] sent several of his followers to different nations in search of true religion. They came to Constantinople and went to church in the famous Hagios Sophia. This was their reaction: “We knew not whether we were in heaven or on earth, for surely there is no such splendor or beauty anywhere on Earth, we cannot describe it to you, only this we know, that God dwells there among men and their service (worship) surpasses the worship of all other places for we cannot forget that beauty”.
This led to the conversion of Russia, but that is a story for another day.
Jewish Rabbis speculated that the physical body of Adam included all humanity (even as Hebrews says that Levi was “in the loins of Abraham” (Heb 7:10). Scholars have also suggested that this might be a further possible source for Paul’s view of the body of Christ that (potentially) incorporates all humanity. Adam was fragmented by sin but then reintegrated in Christ. A new race sprang with him out of the empty tomb. (See The Consolations of Imperfection for more).
